When you feel unhappy, fearful, angry or resentful, negative changes are taking place inside you. Changes you are not even aware of. Maintain this state long enough and disease sets in. Fear is stressful; therefore fear of disease alone, brings about more disease. Our bodies are constantly attempting to adapt to internal and extrinsic stressors. Some days we feel better than others. Yet often times, we don’t really know what is happening inside us unless we get a checkup or a blood test. It is not uncommon that a patient can be sent into a debilitating downward spiral when told they have a serious condition by a specialist. We tend to focus on what concerns us. However, in issues concerning our health, there could be negative consequences associated with this behavior. A good friend of mine, Dr. Rob Davis, once told me; “Where your attention goes, your energy flows and that’s what grows”. From my experiences in life, I believe this to be true. If you really want something bad enough, you’ve got to give it your full attention and make it happen. Unfortunately, with health problems this can work against you. People who constantly focus on an unexplained pain or symptom can turn a minor self limiting condition into a life destroying ailment or ruin any chance of a recovery. Granted, it is important to know what you are dealing with when you get a signal that something isn’t working as it should but it is another thing to be fearful and negative. This reaction only takes you in the wrong direction.
Conversely, feelings of peace, tranquility, serenity and joy calm the mind AND the body. Have you ever noticed how good it feels to physically bond with your significant other. Personally, when I snuggle with my woman, it is the best feeling in the world. I feel this incredible feeling throughout my body. I feel peaceful and alive. Research has shown that people who live with others in a positive, fulfilling relationship are healthier and live longer.
The way you perceive your world directly affects your level of happiness. Whether you perceive your world as being malevolent or benevolent, the affect on your level of contentment will be affected similarly. The fact is, the world is in perfect balance with the same amount of good and evil yet I can show you a powerful tool that, once applied, you can glean all the benefits the world has to offer and minimize all the negative effects of life.
