When I was a young boy around the age of 17 or 18, I was very fortunate in that my mother was studying programs from the Success Motivation Institute and Silva Mind Control. I was at a perfect time in my life when I really knew nothing about the world. As I listened to the programs, I went from Unconscious Incompetence to Conscious Incompetence. In other words, I realized I knew I didn’t know. I became, for all intents and purposes, a human sponge.
I am so grateful for this because I not only learned how to control my own mind and body, but learned concepts that empowered me to do just about anything. I am certainly not bragging but I want to make a point. I wasn’t old enough to have failed at too many things yet. So many people, when they get into their forties and fifties have learned to give up.
In section two of my book, Stop the Rain Dance, I teach the 10 Steps to Achievement. You can find this in Chapter 10; Goals – If you perceive it, you can achieve it. This is a step-by-step guide to achieve anything in life. I have used it over and over again and perfected the method. In the very first step you must decide exactly what you want. The key word here is EXACTLY. You WILL achieve the desired result but, as they say, if your ladder is leaning up against the wrong wall, you will not get what you expected when you get to the top. Though it sounds easy, it is absolutely the hardest step of all.
You can’t get there from here, if you don’t know where you’re going. The point of this conversation is that a lot of people have stopped dreaming. It is surprising how many people have never taken the step to formulate in the mind; their ideal life. Why bother if it’s just a dream, right? Consequently, a lot of folks have just given up.
The fact is they’ve been applying all the wrong tools. If you want a better life, this is your starting point.
However, you cannot create your ideal life without first developing the right mindset. I’ve dedicated the entire first section of my book to help people gain an empowering perspective to liberate their thinking first. It’s like cleaning out your garage before trying to fit your car between all the junk. It’s a necessary step.
